Cambodia Gambling Halls

by Lia on Mar.05, 2026, under Casino

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that features many luxuries aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
