There are numerous casinos in the state, most on moored riverboats. The biggest of the Iowa gambling dens is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Amerindian gambling den in Tama, with 127,669 square feet of casino space, 1,500 slot machines, thirty table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; including 3 eatery’s, bimonthly shows, and gaming classes. One more big Amerindian gambling den is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 square feet, 668 slot machines, and 14 table games. In addition, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is open 24 hours, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and four dining rooms. There are numerous other popular Iowa gambling dens, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 slot machines, and 39 table games.

A smaller Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a river boat gambling den in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 one armed bandits, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend paddle wheel boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. Another Iowa water based casino, The Isle of Capri, is available never closes, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 one armed bandits, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 sq.ft. water based gambling hall in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live shows, and Thursday blackjack matches.

Iowa casinos present an awesome amount of tax money to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has enabled the funding of many commonwealth wide projects. Visitors have grown at an accelerated percentage along with the request for processors and a gain in jobs. Iowa gambling dens have been instrumental to the growth of the economy, and the enthusiasm for gambling in Iowa is across the board.
